'The self-employed man has a slave-driver as a boss'

Something my dad, who's self-employed*, likes to say. There is a slim possibility that I haven't quite picked up his work ethic, which can be illustrated by the following brief conversation:

ME: (pushing the laptop away, sighing heavily) Oh man, I've worked every day this week!
PATROCLUS: It's Tuesday afternoon.

* Professional killer.

James is now lying down, exhausted at the end of another strenuous work day. I, on the other hand, continue to type on into the, er, later part of the afternoon, lovingly seeing to it that British customers of XYZ Corporation will shortly receive an exquisitely-worded email newsletter about the need to encrypt their test data, which all of them will immediately delete upon its arrival in their inbox, if their spam filter doesn't get to it first.

Sigh.

I'm sharing James's exhaustion (yesterday! and today! working! so hard! need nap...), not to mention glummity at the thought of actually having to go into an office for the three remaining days of the week. If anybody ever manages to come up with a formula for Work Ethic, I'd like to buy a bottle or two.

let me know when they bring out a motivation patch. I've got two module assignments and my Final Year Project, all of which is barely started, yet over the last week my main aims were to finish reading the Iliad [good to see Patroclus lives on ;)] and to watch as many old Doctor Who serials as possible.
I have found some Doctor Who audiobooks, so perhaps i'll do some work while listening to them...or i could just try to beat the challenges on Peggle...

I'll take one of those patches, too! I just cannot wrestle this bloody essay into submission while there is an election I can't vote in going on on the other side of the world, and all sorts of stuff on the internets about electric cars. I was interested to see on my travels that the word "wankers" has well and truly finally entered the American vocabulary, though. Another victory for Queens English!
P.S. James - is your dad Leon? (If I could be anyone else for a day it'd be Jean Reno. He's the coolest man in the world....)

A professional killer who looks EXACTLY like Alan Alda! Deadly but wry...

It's the last thing any of his victims expect.

"Hey, aren't you Alan- Aaaaaargh!"

(I should probably say he's actually a chiropodist).
