comics, ants, beard-foreshadowing

Fluxblog has an interview with Bryan Lee O'Malley, the guy behind the Scott Pilgrim comics, which always looked pretty cool, is how they looked. Edgar Wright is apparently attached to the adap after he's finished Hot Fuzz-ing, although I'm hoping that doesn't mean the Ant Man thing is on hold, as long as it's the Scott Lang version, as he's the best by (scaled-down) miles.

If you didn't understand a word of that, then tough noogies grandad.

More from the Comedic Writers And The Facial Hair Therof Project soon. Suggestions I put in Shakespeare and Molière were well received, but I thought a gap might be appropriate, otherwise it goes: Richard, Rob, Fay, Ori, Me, Stuart, Shakespeare and Molière. Which might be pushing it.

Oooh, I loved Scott Pilgrim, It is a very fun read. I must admit I've only read the first two so far, the third seems to only be available to by online from the US with a long wait for delivery. Damn my local comic shops!

Thanks for the link, I didn't know about the movie- very exciting, especially about Edgar Wright's attatchment.

Edgar was in Toronto scouting locations before shooting Hot Fuzz and before Ant Man was confirmed, so I'd say Scott Pilgrim will be next. The plan is to shoot the film in the actual buildings events take place in in the books, which is fun considering I used to live literally less than a two minute walk from Scott's 'apartment' and have spent a great deal of time in many, many, many of the major settings. The psychic implosion of Honest Ed's made Todd a happy boy.

But...but...but... surely if Shakespeare informs GW, as discerning commentators (mainly cello) have observed, then by your own logic from the previous post it's perfectly OK to, er, 'mash-up' Shakespeare comedy beard pictures with comedy beard pictures of the GW writers?

Not so sure about Moliere, though. I never thought he was particularly funny.

Less of the grandad, youngster.

Is it just grandads that have noogies?

It sounds painful.
Can girls get them?

I didn't understand it. It all sounds very fascinating though.

Thank you Mr James and Mongoosian for trailing yet another tempting cultural wormhole in front of me...I'm going to need more shelves (again)

"tough noogies" is actually a quote from Brian Michael Bendis' Ultimate Spiderman. Oooh, get me! Pop cultural cool oozing from every pore.

In honour of your Beard series, I just thought I'd mention there was actually a 19th century American painter called James Henry Beard.

Almost as good as the fact that the one member of ZZ Top who doesn't sport a beard of impressive size is called Frank Beard. Oooh the irony.

Ok that's it, I'll stop with the beard related facts now.
